Three useful questions
Can a trained, visible support network make help easier to find? What can voluntary creative reflection tell us about pressure and protective practices? Which Mental Health Hour cadence can schools sustain?
A proposed research opportunity
The festival creates an opportunity to learn carefully from practice. The proposed Learning Lab is a separate, opt-in research programme; it is not required for festival participation and is not yet approved or funded.
Can a trained, visible support network make help easier to find? What can voluntary creative reflection tell us about pressure and protective practices? Which Mental Health Hour cadence can schools sustain?
The proposed participant-level research would involve six Harare schools within a separate Open Studio research track. Research institutions and funders are invited to discuss governance, methods, training and practical outputs.
Research requires an accountable institution and principal investigator, ethics approval or determination, appropriate consent and assent, secure data arrangements, safeguarding and ring-fenced funding. Creative work is never treated as diagnosis.
Intended outputs include practical school guidance and an anonymised report. Sponsors do not receive identifiable student data or private journals. Declining research does not remove access to the festival.
