From expression to connection

A voice needs someone who knows how to listen.

Young people should know who they can approach and what happens when they do. The festival’s proposed training pathways connect listening skills with clear boundaries and adult responsibility.

Listen before trying to fix

Guided dialogue helps students practise curiosity, respectful communication and collaboration. Fiction, metaphor and shared questions allow participation without personal disclosure. Peer Dialogue and Repair is bounded practice, subject to school approval; it is not a substitute for safeguarding or formal school processes.

What a Green Badge would mean

A trained and supervised support-navigation role: notice, listen within limits and help someone reach an appropriate adult. A badge is not a counselling qualification, and students are not asked to assess risk, keep unsafe secrets or manage another person’s care.

Training must precede recognition

Provider agreements, age suitability, competency requirements and supervision must be confirmed before provider-branded delivery or Green Badge recognition. School staff and administrative champions are part of the proposed support structure.
